1953 Gibson ES 295 - Sunburst. Master builder, J Black brought this guitar back from the dead. It was a 1953 single pick-up ES 175 that had incredible tone, but a crack that ran from strap button to strap button and a head stock that contained five giant wood screws. J amazingly patched it up, refinished and aged the repairs, routed the bridge pick-up hole, installed a hand crafted 295 floral pick-guard and a set of JM Rolph P-90’s wound to sound like original 50's. The Tuneomatic bridge is attached to the top and the new Bigsby has been aged to match the guitar. The top, back and neck sport the original finish. The Sunburst top is amazing.
2007 KB-295 Tele. Where the Gibson 295 meets a Fender started. Needing a guitar to safely travel with, J built the KB-295 to match the voice and style of my 53 Gibson. The lightly reliced gold Tele body is double bound and chambered with an early 90’s era Jeff Beck neck, and is fitted with DiMarzio pick-ups with a P-90 at the neck position and a vintage Tele single coil at the bridge. The upside-down control plate grants smooth access to the volume knob and the Fender Bigsby is held in tune by a Mastery Bridge and Sperzel tuners.
1993 KB-295 Strat gold, light relic with matching headstock & custom pinstripe. The guitar started life as a J Black Custom Shop Sonic Blue Strat with matching headstock and light relic. In 2008 I sent it to J for pick-ups and it came back decked out in the custom made gold Gibson 295 motif. The pinstripes were added in Fall 2009 by a guy J found and used earlier in the year. It's alder body is voiced by 3 custom wound DiMarzio pick-ups and a Stellartone, ToneStyler under the middle tone control.
