![]() Las Vegas-based, Kevin Barber was born and raised in the heat and fog of the, Big Valley of central California and moved along to live and play in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, San Francisco, Portland, OR and Las Vegas.
Influenced by an eclectic mix of music from labels like Sun, Stax, Atlantic, RCA, Blue Note, King, Capitol and K-Tel, Kevin developed a vintage and warm tone. His big body guitars, finger picking, blues lines, soul chords and jazz progressions create a Roots/Americana sound all his own. His music has been played on college, fm & am radio stations, including world famous KROQ in Los Angeles, used in radio commercials and independent films, has appeared with national acts Fishbone, Tammy Diddley (Bo's daughter) and swapped stories with Elvis Presley guitarists, Scotty Moore and James Burton. Other highlights include recording at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis TN (story here), appearances and headlines at the Coconut Teaser on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA, on Nashville's Broadway, the Oregon Convention Center, the Historic Columbia Gorge Hotel in Hood River, OR and enjoyed residencies at Maryhill Winery in Goldendale, WA and MacTarnahan's Taproom in Portland, OR. An 8-year student of Telecaster virtuoso, recording artist & The Little Willies (fronted by Norah Jones) guitarist, Jim Campilongo, he continues to search out and find the right note for the right time.Kevin is available as a solo atmosphere act, duo, instrumental trio or with vocals, as an added hand to an existing project and can travel nation-wide. Kevin plays an eclectic mix of originals, standards, country favorites and 50's classics including these.
He is currently enjoying a big plate of his home-made tacos and working on his next album due out in 2009. |
